Jesus’ crucifixion was not out of the ordinary for its time. 2000 years ago, under Roman occupation, crucifixions were relatively standard for criminals and those who had undermined Roman authority. And so the crucifixion of Jesus was just like any other crucifixion at the time. However, Christians around the world since 33AD would tell you that this wasn’t just ‘another death by crucifixion’. The man on the cross that day wasn’t just ‘another man who died’. So who is this Jesus? Last Friday Rachel led us on a journey together to the cross of Jesus and catch a fresh glimpse of the humanity and humility of this man.
